The Alvin Museum Society's constitution was adopted on April 12, 1976. The Society's stated mission is "to preserve the history of Alvin and its immediate area by heightening residents' awareness of the value of saving the past for the benefit of the future. Exhibits, programs, and activities that educate the museums' patrons are offered. Selected for preservation are structures, objects, documents, photographs, oral and visual histories, and all artifacts that add to the telling of Alvin's story." The Society owns and operates the Marguerite Rogers House Museum and the Alvin Historical Museum both of which are open for touring.

Garden Tour Planned

The 8th Annual Alvin Area Garden Tour is planned for Saturday, April 21, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Alvin Garden Club and Alvin Museum Society co-sponsor this annual event. Make plans now to visit the private gardens and the plant sale. For more information, call 281-393-1538.

February 2007 Quarterly Meeting


The quarterly membership meeting of the Alvin Museum Society was held on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at the Alvin Senior Center. After the business meeting and refreshments, Wallace Saage, Curator of Collections at The Heritage Society, showed pictures and discussed restoration projects following Hurricane Rita.

Upcoming activities include the 8th Annual Garden Tour set for Saturday, April 21. Volunteers are needed. Call Pat Klopp for more information. The Spring exhibit at The Cottage House Museum will be teapots.
